AUJS strongly condemns the anti-trans and neo-nazi rally in Melbourne on March 18th

The Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS) strongly condemns the anti-trans and neo-nazi rally in Melbourne on March 18th. We stand in solidarity with the trans community and all those who have been targeted by this hateful and dangerous ideology.

As Jewish students, images of Nazi thugs performing nazi salutes and spewing violent dehumanising rhetoric is particularly alarming. For Trans, Jewish students, even more so.

We are deeply concerned about the increasing boldness of neo-nazis and other hateful ideologues who seek to spread their message of intolerance and bigotry. It is alarming to see these groups joining together and attempting to gain momentum.

In times like these, it is more important than ever that we come together as a community to support one another and fight against hatred and intolerance. We must love and hold members of both the Jewish and gender-diverse communities close and stand together in solidarity against these dangerous and divisive ideologies.

AUJS will continue to stand against hatred and discrimination of any kind both on and off campus.

As a people who have suffered at the hands of Nazi ideology, we know the rally has deeply affected many members of our community. We want you to know that there is always support available.
